California Becomes the First State to Enact Total Lead Bullet Hunting Ban
cali.jpg
California is set to become the first state to ban the use of lead bullets for all hunting activities. The law, originally passed in 2013, will take full effect in less than one month on July 1, 2019, and will apply to all hunters taking any type of game with a firearm on public or private land.

Maybe they should start with their real threat.

The whole lead thing is BS. The only problem I see is with things like the 17HMR, 22. No small monolithic bullets yet. Plenty of shotgun shells out there that are not lead based. F commiefornia.

Hunters should start to use Depleted Uranium rounds.
Didn't read the article, but I'm gonna assume that the reason for this is because lead pellets kill birds of prey.
Let me know when Caliphornia gets around to tearing down all those green windmills that will never be able to pay back the amount of energy needed to create them.

Re: California Becomes the First State to Enact Total Lead Bullet Hunting Ban
“Proponents of the ban argue that lead bullets present an environmental risk to wildlife, especially the endangered California Condor.”
There is no doubt that lead in carcasses is a problem for Condors, about 70% of the condors in Arizona test positive for lead.
On the other hand, …
If there was ever a specie that was destined to go extinct, it’s the California Condor:
1. They do not reach breeding maturity until 7 years old.
2. The breeding pair mates every other year.
3. Only one chick in the nest survives.

Re: California Becomes the First State to Enact Total Lead Bullet Hunting Ban
Personally, I haven't got a problem with this.
The science behind it is sound. Hunters in CA have had 6 years to prepare for it. It doesn't ban all lead ammo, just that used in hunting. You can plink and skeet shoot with lead ammo until you drop from fatigue. You just can't hunt with it. The price will do down as more and more manufacturers provide non-lead offerings and most folks don't shoot more than a couple rounds/year when hunting anyway.
I've said it before. If hunters would stop being such stuck-in-the-mud, irrational Fudds and embraced the legitimate issue for this being enacted, and taken the issue on voluntarily because it's the right thing to do, there would have been no need for the .gov to have gotten involved in the first place. We are our own worst enemy sometimes.Sed ego sum homo indomitus
