    Default How Much Dehimidification/Protection?

I have a Fatboy Jr. in my basement, fairly dry but it is a basement so I keep that in mind.

    I have a dehumidifier closeby.

    I have a 12" goldenrod

I am thinking of getting an Evadry 500, do I need it?

Looking at these too in addition. Is this too much? Will it screw up my shoulder straps, stocks, any manuals in the safe? I would use all 4.

Do you have a humidity monitor in your safe? You can get one for like $10 from Home Depot.

50% should be the sweet spot. If you're there (a GoldenRod gets me just about there), don't worry about buying more crap.

I have no idea what a Fatboy Jr is, but my basement is about 900 sq ft. I run a 45 pint dehumidifier plumbed to drain outside. I keep it set at 55-60% humidity, it runs at ~60-70% In the "gun room" a large closet about 10' x 7' where my reloading bench and three small safes are I run a Eva dry petite, I drain it of a half gallon or so every 4-5 days I have no rust or mold issues anywhere. where I work we get a lot of machinery components shipped in and they have generous amounts of dry desiccant bags in the crates, some the size of a gallon ziplock, I grab them and sharpie a date on them , use them in everything , the safes ,ammo cans and powder storage, toss them in a year or so. I'm a bit OCD about the basement dryness, its nicely finished and used as much as the upstairs, but being the only viable place in the house for the armory, I've managed the dampness quite well with this set up

I do not. My basement is finished but not heating or cooling. Humidity varies from 30-60 depending on season. Just going by the reading on my dehumidifier. So you think I’m good?

Put in a humidifier and let them fight it out.

I have a dehumidifier right next to my safe and i have not had any rust deposits since then. It was a humid summer last year and this spring is following suit.

A dehumidifier should be more than enough. I keep humidity at 35-40% and have no issues. Summer and Spring are the worst times for basements...they tend to dry out in Fall/Winter.

That's a good point. I would love one that has a remote sensor but everything I see won't penetrate steel. Thoughts?
