Pistol reflex red dot sight question

Planning to get a vortex venom sight, have no experience with any red dot sight and can't seem to find the answer on Google, do you leave your RDS on at all time ? Vortex venom has an automatic setting that it shuts off after 14 hours to save the battery.

For whome carried with red dot, do you turn it on manually when you need to use it or you just leave it on all the time ?

If its an EDC gun I highly reccomend one that stays on. Say like a Shield.

3 year battery life and always on. New ones are waterproof also. Do you really want to fumble around in the middle of the night to turn your optic on ?

I have an always on optic on my carry gun. Why would you have anything else ?

If not an EDC or bedside gun the Venom is fine. I run one on my Steel Challenge gun. They are GTG.

The Venom shuts itself down but does not have a shake awake or auto turn on feature other then that it's a decent red dot, I have one on my TP9SFX but there are better out there for not much more money. I would strongly recommend then Holosun 507c which can be had for around $250.00 if you look hard enough. It would be the one I went with if I were going to EDC a pistol with a RDS.
