Moving to PA
Hello, I will be moving to PA next month and was wondering how long I would have to wait after I switch my driver license to my new address in PA to purchase a handgun and or a rifle? My move in date is June 1st and I plan on going to DMV on June 3rd or the 4th. I would also like to apply for a concealed carry permit, how long would I need to wait for that process?
I'm currently living in NJ and do not have a FID card for NJ, if that even matters. Thanks

Re: Moving to PA
Just a heads up, when you first switch your DL over, you'll probably get a temporary DL. It should be enough to get your gun with, but some shops may say they won't transfer until you get your permanent one (as has happened with me).

Re: Moving to PA
Thank you for the info. I thought it would be at least a 30 day wait.
LOL, it's long over-due... I'm thinking a Springfield 1911 EMP in 40 cal and a Colt AR.
What is a temp DL about? I have a CDL on my license, will that hold things up?
Moving to Saylorsburg Monroe County.
I'm leaving because of that bullshit!

Re: Moving to PA
I moved here 6 years ago this coming June 5th and also had a CDL, there won't be any issues with your DL temp or permanent.
Once you get your DL you can buy firearms like a normal human being unlike NJ. As far as the LTCF I feel like I had to wait 90 days before I could apply for it but that may just be something with our outgoing Sheriff. A lot has changed with the way he did things more recently so that may have changed. Check out the county web site for all the LTCF info and to download the application.
I'm also in Monroe County not far from Saylorsburg, welcome to the area. If you have any questions about the area feel free to PM me.Join the GOA & save $5.00. https://www.gunowners.org/mac-subs-join-goa.htm
