Yeah...but...lawyers want to get paid and I doubt that that loser has enough to cover the fees and 1/3 of no settlement is $0.

You wrote "you draw your firearm....and shoot to kill."
Well, that statement right there will get you life. You shoot to stop the threat. He was shot in the chest and face. Not foot, arm or leg. Should the father have shot him between the eyes once he stopped moving? I can't seem to make sense of what you are trying to communicate.
Your next sentence really baffles me. "Now the real victim..."
Who exactly is the real victim in your eyes? I see the victims as the homeowner and family. It appears to me that you view the miscreant who was shot as the victim, since he is the one suing.
    Just curious.
Go sell crazy some where else, we're all stocked up here.

So I guess civilian self defense training is somewhere in the middle ?

I was told by an old soldier, while you want to stop the enemy, if you kill him, his fellow soldiers can just leave his body there. But if you injury him, now you have tied up two other soldiers taking care of the wounded soldier. Not sure how that works out in actual combat though.
