So I guess civilian self defense training is somewhere in the middle ?

I was told by an old soldier, while you want to stop the enemy, if you kill him, his fellow soldiers can just leave his body there. But if you injury him, now you have tied up two other soldiers taking care of the wounded soldier. Not sure how that works out in actual combat though.

Perhaps in more civilized societies , but I'll bet most of the nice people we've gone to war against don't follow such practices.

And on the streets o the US , if a cop shoots and puts down Tyrufus , his homies DeSean and LaShawn will simply run away.
