They may consider offers to buy it
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: Ranier shutting down
There are tons of places to buy bullets. You can also cast them yourself if you want. It was probably due to too much competition.

Wow. This is why I make my own. Doesn't hurt that I own the company either.

"We can no longer afford to weather the storm." ---Directly from their statement on their website.
My guess is that they, like any small family business, are experiencing pressure from competitors. They have a fixed overhead they need to meet just to open the doors. I can only assume they have financing arrangements with local banks, and those banks may be looking at the business as a higher risk with bullets being a given profit margin and much competition.
There will always be those who say the banks as institutions are afraid to be in a lending position with a bullet maker. But banks will always take a deal where their risk is low and the chance to make money is high. If Ranier is thinly capitalized the banks may simply not renew loans as the risk of loss is too high.

Re: Ranier shutting down
The next best thing to "making your own" is getting them from someone that sells a good product. I just got a case of 147 gr. RN sized to 0.358" for use in .38 Special from an outfit named Steel Valley Casting. I checked samples for weight and found an average weight of 145.2 grs (good) and diameter was right on at 0.358". For them that's interested using data for Hornady's 140 gr (cast lead "Cowboy" bullet gives the best results. 6.0 gr. of Silhouette averaged 901.5 fps and 5.6 grs of CFE - P averaged 893..3 fps. Both exceed the "old" IDPA 125,000 power factor. BTW the lighter bullet won't wear on arthritic hands much either!

OSHA regs for working with and around lead-based products , especially molten lead are getting restrictive , and expensive.
Perhaps not unreasonable , given the health risks involved.I don't speak English , I talk American!
