Default Term "shell casings" bugs me

...'cause I've only ever heard it used by MSM, (and police inspectors who follow their lead) and I am biased against anything those nitwits dream up. Do I need help?

No, IMO you don't need help. It's a clip vs. magazine thing, and those of us who tend to be specific, well, we tend to be specific.

My own pet peeve is the use of "tips" or "heads" as synonyms for the words "bullet" or "projectile." Just as with open-mouth gum chewing, it will amp up my BP if I allow it, but I don't.

I know a retired cop who says it. He also says "clip". Annoys the heck out of me...and worries me how uneducated a lot of law enforcement SOUNDS when talking about guns. I'm not saying they are, but they sound that way.

He also tried to talk his daughter into a snub-nosed .38/.357 revolver for a first gun years ago.

I went shooting with him once and he just pulled his gun out and started firing before anyone had hearing protection on...including himself. He's already deaf but that doesn't mean the rest of us want to be. I was probably 10 feet from him and my ears rang and hurt for a few days afterwards. Thanks, jackass.

I usually say spent cases, or just brass or empties.

I made the common mistake of buying my wife a snub-nosed .38 revolver myself, but that was before I knew any better.

Spent brass, fired brass. Casings in place of cases just sounds like poor English, and shell casings sounds like bald man with no hair. Besides, if the brass is a shell, what the hell is the casing?

Horrible gun for a new shooter, especially our ladies.

"Oh but it fits so nicely in their purse".

    ANOTHER horrible idea!

Early on in our marriage, my wife fired a .38 Colt Detective Special aka Snub. Ever see someone try to get away from a gun while knowing she didn't have the option to drop it? LMAO.

I said, "I told you about the recoil".

She said, "Yes...but you didn't tell me about the NOISE!"

To "me" shells is loaded ammo ............. as in , "Hey Leroy , gimme a box of shells so I kin shoot that sombitch."
So shell casings is something I am sure I have used if not some of the other terms.... brass , empties , etc
See no reason to change it.
Now something that I have yet to accept and never think I will is .......I recall..... the first time I heard some youngin say "impulse"
If you ask me "what kind of impulse" my firearm has .......... I am probably going to walk away from you.
    Just how I am.
    "impulse?"... what the hell
