Universal rule for ammo is to find carry ammo you need to shoot a bunch of different kinds to find what shoots best, shoot a few boxes of it to make sure its reliable. If it works then start using it. The name brand hollowpoints are all about the same these days.

For practice ammo go with what's cheap as long as it works. If you don't have an issue with steelcased then use steelcased.

Yes, it looks like resetting the machine for a different size primer is a PITA and for that reason I will prefer SPP's for now. I figure if I get a batch of LPP's I might look to sell or swap them for SPP's.

    Thanks for the help.

The historical normal is LPP not SPP which is a recent thing. Is the QC you have already set up for small? I have not bought new 45 for a while, is SPP that common these days?

Once you learn your 550 you'll be able to change the primer bar and tube in a few minutes.
It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

It is currently set up for SPP and I have most of the parts to convert it but I don't believe that I have them all.

Nope. They both work a treat.

    45s like round nose bullets.
    Hollow points....meh.
The 45 doesn't get a bullet moving fast enough for good hollow point expansion.

If your missing some parts give Dillon a call, they'll straighten you out.

Wish I could help, but I'm not familiar with the 45 Por Favor. Is that a new wildcat cartridge? Short magnum?
