Link for new "assault weapon" BS from Bradys.
The Republican led Brady anti-gun organization released its new anti-
"Assault Weapon" publication. It's even dumber than anything they have released previously.

Turns out "assault weapons " figure in about 3% of crime.

Sorry but that was the most ignorant paper I ever read. Whoever wrote that has more likely than not gotten ALL of their information from the movies and not from the real world. All I can say is wow are they dumb.

Re: Link for new "assault weapon" BS from Bradys.
Did Reagan really support an AWB?
And of COURSE hunters don't use "assault weapons"...it's fucking illegal.
They create a position that's impossible to lose. If hunters used "assault weapons" to hunt, they'd say that hunters illegally use them to hunt.
So again, highlight citizens following the law to make a case against criminals. Philosophical fallacy if ever there was one.
Besides, their web site sucks. I could download a cd quicker than it took to download 950kb's.
Edit:
Besides...look at all the examples at the end. Notice how few %'s of people died? Lot's of injuries and suspects offing themselves...and even one case of a man using an "assault weapon" to kill a shooter! Isn't that a good thing? Not per them!
Striking out bias, the examples they cite make "assault weapons" sound less dangerous than your average firearm. Maybe we should outlaw all firearms EXCEPT assault weapons?Last edited by CarolinaGuy; October 12th, 2008 at 08:35 PM. Reason: Add

Re: Link for new "assault weapon" BS from Bradys.
Wow.. what a sad bunch of uneducated ignorant sons a bitches. How sad it must be to live your life with you head so far up your own ass you can't tell the difference between burp and a fart!!
For the last fucking time the problem is not the gun, it is the person behind the gun. Lately and in a rabidly increasing instance it seems the people behind the guns are repeat violent felons. Who have been released early from prison for good behavior. Then these animals go out and steal or illegally purchase said weapons and use them for evil. So instead of people taking responsibility for letting these people out they try and take the attention off of themselves by blaming the guns.
I say start charging the parole board members with endangering the public welfare when one of their "model" inmates gets out for good behavior, then goes nuts and mows down half a city block. Let's start holding people accountable!!!! Put the animals away and fucking keep them there!!!
When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty!

Re: Link for new "assault weapon" BS from Bradys.
Its still the old blame the inanimate object game.
They will never realize that even in "polite society" they will still have criminals.
Page 21/63 (page 14) has a blatant lie.... "silencers are also illegal."
I also dig the flash suppressors help the shooter maintain concealed while shooting at night. Have they ever actually SHOT a firearm with a suppressor at night?
Page 23/63 (page 16) "High capacity magazines containing more than 10 rounds, which were also
banned as part of the Federal Assault Weapons Act, are also not useful for selfdefense,
as former Baltimore County Police Department Colonel Leonard J. Supenski
has testified:
The typical self-defense scenario in a home does not require more
ammunition than is available in a standard 6-shot revolver or 6-10 round
semiautomatic pistol. In fact, because of potential harm to others in the
household, passersby, and bystanders, too much firepower is a hazard.
Indeed, in most self-defense scenarios, the tendency is for defenders to
keep firing until all bullets have been expended.96
Assault weapons were designed for military use. They have no legitimate use as
self-defense weapons."
Uh huh... thats why the police use the "high capacity" magazines. Can you imagine the outcry from the LE realm if they were told that the STANDARD capacity were of no use for their personal defense?
They also use the Heller decision to try to make a point - The Second Amendment does not provide constitutional protection for militarystyle
assault weapons. In District of Columbia v. Heller,98 the Supreme Court recently
ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms for
self-defense in the home.99 However, the Court also went out of its way to indicate that
the right is limited in a number of ways. One limitation, the Court held, is that not all
“arms” are protected.
We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and
carry arms. [U.S. v.] Miller said, as we have explained, that the sorts of
weapons protected were those “in common use at the time.” We think
that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting
carrying of “dangerous and unusual weapons.”100"
I'm sorry, but the US Government owns MILLIONS of AR type rifles. they are not unusual. Also, show me a firearm that is NOT dangerous!!!
Ah yes, it all comes down to politics... support the Messiah, not the old guy who wants these cop killing weapons in the hand of the know nothing civilian population.
God help us if the "messiah" gets elected.
But, more importantly, make sure assinine legislation doesnt get out of Congress for the messiah to sign - vote pro gun in the Senate and House!Last edited by mikepro8; October 12th, 2008 at 09:55 PM.
"The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?
