CA ADVANCES BILL TO ALLOW BOSSES, CO-WORKERS TO FILE GUN SEIZURE ORDERS

The California Assembly on Monday advanced a bill to add school faculty, employers and co-workers to the list of people who can ask a judge to take away someone’s guns.

The measure, AB 61, passed the Assembly in a Democrat-heavy 54-16 vote and now heads to the state Senate. It would greatly expand who can file for a Gun Violence Restraining Order in the state under California’s so-called “red flag law.”

Adopted in 2014, the current law allows the seizure of firearms– for up to 21 days– from an otherwise legal gun owner who is believed to pose a “significant danger.” This initial order could be extended for as long as a year if the situation warrants while filing a false petition is a misdemeanor offense. As it stands, just law enforcement and immediate family can seek such an order. AB 61 would expand this to include school employees such as guidance counselors and teachers as well as the employers and co-workers of a subject.

Second Amendment groups such as the Firearms Policy Coalition and Gun Owners of California, who have long felt the orders were a dangerous pathway to gun confiscation without delivering any promise of treatment for someone in legitimate crisis, are opposed to the expansion.

According to the state Department of Justice, GVROs have been issued 614 times from 2016 to the end of 2018.

The way this is going, now any libtard will be able to file red flag bullshit on anyone.

Yup trying to shame us away into the background like they have done with cigarette smokers. Making normal law abiding citizens who are firearm enthusiasts afraid to speak their mind or God forbid loose their temper at work with a coworker or client.

The Red Flag laws are a huge threat to the First Amendment. Even without this "enhancement", in most of these laws, including the proposed law in PA, any police officer can file an application for an order. There is not restriction the basis for which he or she may file one. It could be on information supplied by a neighbor, a co-worker, the officer himself, a Mom's Demander who claims she was threatened at a public hearing, a person who spoke or shouted too passionately at a pro-2A rally.

The left loves programs that get family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances all snitching on each other. That is why these laws are the very foundation of civilian disarmament. All done without facing your accuser, in private, and the confiscation comes in the dead of night without warning.

In NY there are serious proposals to condition the purchase of a firearm on the complete surrender to the government for search all of your social media, email, and internet activity for multiple years before being permitted to purchase a firearm or get a license.

This is where we are headed and we need to prevent it from gaining further ground in PA. It will take the Supreme Court, in they even rule in our favor, decades to uproot these "Jim Crow" laws from the books.

Even your own lawyer might turn you in. This article from the Federalist shows how well the propaganda war against the Second Amendment is working. Some lawyers are brainwashed into the myth that gun ownership is evidence of being a threat to society. The fear of Doctors ratting you out is already known, but your own lawyer?

Probably not, the poor souls have suffered enough. In Kali they just might give confiscated weapons to them as reparations.
