Do all 1911's have a grip safety????
I was showing a co-worker a site for grips I want for my 1911 and he says " Wow, those are cool looking. I've never seen a 1911 with that thing on the grip, what is it?". What? Seriously this guy is usually kinda retarded but everyonce in awhile he says things that make me think. So do they? I thought they did, but this guys got me all beffudled.

Re: Do all 1911's have a grip safety????
I've never seen a 1911 without one.
I'm far from an expert. Maybe there's a kind of 1911 I don't know about.

Re: Do all 1911's have a grip safety????
all true 1911 designs have them. there have been some near 1911 and some 1911 derivatives that have gone without, but not anything true to the design.

Only one that I know of, and it's not even mass-market yet. Well, besides some custom guns that just use a milspec/colt type safety and pin it in.
NOVAK ONE PIECE BACK STRAP ANSWER®
Custom made for a father and his daughter. This set solved a problem for them both. The Colt .45's were designed to help facilitate the use of such a large pistol by not only the father but also by his smaller framed daughter. All efforts were used to fit the hand of them both and allow for control and comfort. It took over 8 months to work out the details, fabricate the proto-types, and test the final product. It was displayed for the 1st time at Shot 2005, and is installed on the pair shown. The Novak One Piece Back Strap for the Colt 1911.
I refer to it as "THE ANSWER"®. Look for more information in the near future.

Thats kinda what I thought, but this fella is the kinda person who is basically stupid but like the proverb says " Even a busted watch is right twice a day". He'll be right about this and I'll call him on it. Then he looks like the smart guy and I'm the idiot. Anybody else know what I'm talking about here, with these kind of people.

Re: Do all 1911's have a grip safety????
My Detonics Combat Master does not have one. One of the reasons I was kinda leary to begin carrying it cocked and locked. Probably because it's a baby 1911 style
1911's were origionally designed without one, but was added for the gooberment to 'increase' the safety factor with soldier type peopleHonesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior ~ 3%
