    First, Welcome to POOFA!

Here is a pretty good vid on the MAK 90. It shows what is probably missing that would accommodate retention of a cleaning rod:

Presuming that the lower handguard on yours has the hole drilled for a cleaning rod storage, the question becomes does yours have the front sight and bayonet lug that is designed to hold the rod? Some were simply cut off, and replacement lugs could be welded back on.

Others were built with no portions of lugs ever having been part of the parts. These would probably call for disassembling of the front sight and gas block and replacement with lugged types.

Assuming you'd be carrying the rifle in a rifle carrier, you could get one with external pockets meant to hold magazines and accessories, obtain and store a military-style folding cleaning rod in the carry case.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

You need to get a new front sight base and replace the existing one on the rifle. A new made or used FSB is going to be between $200.00 and $250.00 and then figure another couple hundred for an experienced AK builder to put it on. Your front handguard will also require drilling out.

You can search the AKfiles for sellers as they come up from time to time.

Type 3 Polish gas block is about $50, folding spiker front sight is about $230. Drive out pins with a punch. A press is almost necessary to press off the old components. Press (or hammer on using a piece of copper pipe) new components. Align components and redrill if necessary for pins.

Just a thought here: you said money is not an issue. If so, I'd sell the MAK and buy a pre-ban Chicom rifle with all the features you want.

Bulgarian gas block and FSB work great for this modification.
Press the old stuff off, new stuff on, drill new holes, pound new pins.
Probably have to refinish the new parts prior to install as well.

But as esh21167 stated, either sell it or keep it as is and buy a pre-ban in the correct configuration.
