Re: Wayne LaPierre and Oliver North battle for NRA control
I realize that bad things are often not expected, but the timing of this is bad. The article in First Freedom magazine was written in such a way that made it sound like the NRA itself believed it is on "the ropes" and totally at the (non) mercy of governor Cuomo.

Re: Wayne LaPierre and Oliver North battle for NRA control
The best thing for the NRA is a full sweep of upper leadership and a rewrite of the bylaws so we don't end up with lifetime executives. If LaPierre actually cares about the NRA and the 2A, he'll step aside voluntarily. I think he'll stay until he's carried out in a box because I get the feeling Wayne only cares about Wayne. I hoped North had enough juice to get rid of LaPierre but the board is stacked with his minions.

Re: Wayne LaPierre and Oliver North battle for NRA control
I hope he gets replaced by someone who is pro gun including but not limited to class three ownership and semi autos . I also hope they elect/appoint someone who has a professional image and good speaking ability, and a past history free of sexual harassment, misconduct, etc. What we don't need is another has been celebrity or famous person with a history of making anti gun statements.

Maybe this inner turmoil explains why I've yet to receive my complimentary hat for my membership renewal.

Re: Wayne LaPierre and Oliver North battle for NRA control
I never liked the idea of a convicted felon as President of the NRA. Don't get me wrong North has done a lot for the conservative movement like shredding White House documents, lying to Congress and illegally selling arms to countries like Iran but hey what's a little graft between friends? Wayne is getting a little long in the tooth but as UJ pointed out there needs some action by the board to clean this up and maybe change some bylaws. This is important stuff for gun owners. When the left thinks of guns they automatically take aim at the NRA and ask about the GOA... who?
