Re: Potential armed teachers would be subjected to mental evaluation and training
Home schooling or private schools are the only real alternative to sending your kids to indoctrination centers for instruction on becoming a ward of the state.
Corruption is the default behavior of government officials. JPC

Re: Potential armed teachers would be subjected to mental evaluation and training
[QUOTE=Bang;3982158]Florida. Bill in consideration. If passed, volunteer teachers would be examined for mental deficits and receive 144 hours of training.
Got me to thinking. Shouldn't their mental faculties be assured, to begin with??[/QUOTE
Florida still has schools as a total gun free zone. They are making the teachers into some sort of Quasi-police officer with the training. Of course having armed police would be a better idea. But as you saw in Broward one of the sheriffs was a coward. Not sure how these teachers will do. Also chances are the gun will be kept in some sort of lock box for emergency and who knows how long to retrieve the gun.

Better to have active law enforcement with AR15 patrol school grounds. Also get rid of ALL gun free zones in FL.

We have talked about this law on the Florida carry forum.
The law has no teeth because school districts can opt out of the guardian program, which most of them have done (meaning their teachers cannot participate even if they wanted to). Instead, they use taxpayer money to hire armed guards who are in uniform but must carry concealed.

Re: Potential armed teachers would be subjected to mental evaluation and training
What an asshole..... I don't know of any teachers who want to be in room full of students during a lockdown. He created a situation where other teachers would probably line up to slap him upside the head. Seriously, they sit in a corner away from the door, can't talk, make noise or really move. Neither can the teacher. If someone has to go to the bathroom...... tough. If you have disruptive students in the room it can be a nightmare. No learning can take place during that time. The police have to come in spending time and effort dealing with the situation, often in swat team mode. Lockdowns are seriously disruptive. I doubt that he will be a teacher next year.
Edit to add..... He must have already have shown his colors. He was already told he was not coming back next year.

Re: Potential armed teachers would be subjected to mental evaluation and training
If a shooter wants to die and wants to take a few people with him, I cannot think of a dissuader or deterrent to the mindset. In that case, impossible entry becomes the best hurdle. And that is not fool-proof. S/he can always get a few as they exit the school and/or approach the bus.
It is generally acknowledged that a vicinity that is shall-issue enjoys reduction in crimes against persons and the reason is recognized to be the unknown element of which victim is armed and which is not. Ironically, the anti-gun jerks benefit from those who take on responsibility for their own well-being.
To have a uniformed officer who must carry concealed is an interesting one more way of fucking things up. It never ends.
Next law: Those contemplating shooting in a school must first make an appointment with the school's principal. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

The sheep do not like to be reminded that the wolf is out there. Sheepdogs use the same tools as the wolf. Seeing these tools (even if it's the sheepdog who has them) reminds the sheep that the wolf is out there. This scares the sheep.
It's a good read if you haven't already....

In the year since the February 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, several states have moved to pass laws to arm teachers as a way to protect students.
But students and parents of color worry that allowing guns into classrooms will put black, Latino, and Native American students, who are already subject to harsher discipline than their white classmates, in harm’s way.
But for students of color, who account for a disproportionately large share of students disciplined in schools, the concern isn’t that armed teachers wouldn’t make a difference — it’s that armed school officials could be more likely to respond to students of color with unnecessary force or threats.
One month after the shooting, black students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas held a press conference, arguing that calls for more police on school grounds would put them at risk.
“We want officers that will protect us, not racially profile us,” student Tyah-Amoy Roberts later told the Daily Beast. Similar concerns were raised during the March 2018 National School Walkout, as students of color told reporters that they were marching to protest not only school shootings but also police violence, some of which had happened in their school hallways.
