Re: Duty to Inform? FOAC Says YES!
Should you lie to a police officer..... that is certainly up for debate.
But what does the law say? Is there a statute?
Seriously curious, I’ve always read that there is no statute saying you can’t legally lie to the police. There are federal statutes saying that you can’t lie to federal officers.
Am I misinformed about the police part?

Maybe I did ask for clarification. And maybe he stood by what he said. And maybe he drove 5 hours to tell a room full of my neighbors and friends inaccurate information about telling officers in a traffic stop about your firearms and neglected to tell them that YES YOU DO need a permit to carry openly right now. Why should anyone be silent about it? Why shouldn't anyone correct him?

Unfortunately, telling police the truth is not always the path to safety, even if you're completely legal and innocent. Whatever you say can and will be used to craft a story in which you're the bad guy, and everything you can prove has been taken into account. Or they may run your gun's serial number and keep it because they don't understand PA law.
PA folks can lie to PA cops, but not in writing, and not to implicate someone else. The po-po can try to prosecute that as some flavor of obstruction, but there's no law against lying while chatting with police about your lawful gun hidden in the car. And of course the police can abuse you for lying to them, but the kind of cops willing to do that are not the kind you'd want to tell the truth to either.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Lots of maybes there. So you're there in an open discussion asking questions and you didn't bring this up at the time? What's irritating as hell is people wanted to bash right away without any background into the thinkng of the person they're bashing. You know of all the case he's been involved in where just the mere fact that a person had a license to carry firearms was used as suspicion of having a firearm? What's even more irritating is people insist that they know what the fuck is going on but then when they have the opportunity to sit down and listen to the repercussions of their actions they don't have the fucking balls to do it!

Me? No, just pissed about this hit piece. Thread title is disingenuous at best. He even states that Kim said there was no duty to inform. What happens as a stop goes on is a whole different can of worms. I wasn't there and don't know what was said but people make mistakes.
