Best 22 Ruger or Browning Buckmark
I am going to buy a 22 for practice and was wondering which one is the better gun? I"ve checked out both at the gun shop and I think I'm going to get the Browning. Which one would you buy or would you recommend something else?

Re: Best 22 Ruger or Browning Buckmark
I have the Buckmark, but I like the Rugers just the same, I'd buy whichever is cheaper.
One thing I don't like about the .22 pistols is the prices, my Buckmark retails for over $300, that's too much $$ for a little gun to plink with, I found mine used for $185 and it was a steal."We shoot to stop. ... Unfortunately, death can be a byproduct."

I've had both. Hold each one, whatever one feels better in your hand is the best. Or just flip a coin.

Re: Best 22 Ruger or Browning Buckmark
I am not trying to persuade you. I have a browning buckmark. I like it a lot. But I am getting a lot of jams with it. the gun is old and has thousands of round down the pipe. I have changed parts(recoil spring, extractor, ect) but it jams. mostly when dirty. I just had it out this weekend after about 400 rounds she started jamming. I don't know if this is common. I am tempted to buy another and keep this for parts. to send it to browning it will cost about 40 bucks. Then if repair is not covered I will pay more. It pays to just buy anothr gun?????
It feels nice in my hand and very accurate.

I've got the Buckmark Classic Plus and the Ruger slabside. I prefer the Ruger. The Browning can be a little picky about ammo while the Ruger eats anything. The Ruger is heavier and I just like the feel better. But that's just me - they are both good guns.

I have had two Ruger bull barells and both have been great shooters that eat anything I feed them. Never had or shot a Browning 22.

Re: Best 22 Ruger or Browning Buckmark
I've shot both, and prefer the Ruger for a couple reasons:
1. Durability
2. reliability
3. Price both new and used
4. lots of accessories
it's a well made gun, with many models to choose from, and Ruger is killer on the customer service if you have a problem.
I know an old guy thats got over a million rds thru a 10" barrel target model...all hes broken so far is an extractor, and an ejector.
ruger fixed both issues no problems.

The Ruger MKII are one of the best .22 ever made i own both they are a bit pricy but they are both worth it, the only thing between them is flip a coin and you wont be sorry.
