    Looks like it could be. The place that's selling that is only a few miles from my house. I should go and see if they'll let me look at in person.

    ETA: Looks like it's just how he frame is assembled. It looks like it a plate that goes on that side of the frame.

    It's not a crack, and remember the side plates for Colt DA's are on the left side whereas S&W side plates are on the right. The vertical "crack" you see is where the frame and the crane pivot point meet.

    You S&W n00bs are too used to the side plate on the right side. Colt's sideplate was on the left side.
