Default Looking for an experienced AK gunsmith in SE PA

Looking for anyone that can replace a barrel on a Century Tantal AK74, I picked one up for a really good price however it does have the US Made 223 barrel installed which causes it to keyhole with pretty much all commercial ammo. I was wondering if anyone on here knew of any AK gunsmiths in SE PA that could rebarrel the ak if I buy the replacement barrel. I really like this rifle and a lot of people have suggested that I just get rid of it but aside from the barrel issue, this rifle has been a solid shooter. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks

If no one here responds with a known reputable builder and you want piece of mind that you spent your money wisely fixing this rifle I would go over to the AK files and ask some of the guy's over there who can be trusted to replace the barrel correctly the 1st time. Too many people believe that these are just thrown together commie crap and that just any guy can do it which is completely false.

Be prepared to spend a few bucks getting it done but like they say buy once cry once.

Across the state from you, but here's a company near Pittsburgh that we routinely use for the hard to fix issues with our MG's including our AK's.

There's a member BR 7.62 on The Ak Forum who is an excellent builder. Blossburg, PA. Might do that job.

I took a milled Tortort 80% over to Craig Colabaugh near Stroudsburg to have the pocket on the front underside milled out. The younger guy working there (terrible with names) did an excellent job with it and after chatting with him some, seemed pretty knowledgeable about the AK platform and works on them pretty regularly.
There is a lack of good smiths in the Pocono area so expect to have to wait a while for it. I have another Tortort receiver, this one a 100% with Type 3 threaded "trunion". Once i have everything blued I'll be taking it to them to have the barrel screwed in and headspaced. I can do the rest of the assembly. But headspacing a Type 3 barrel requires a lathe which I don't have. Not quite as simple as a press-n-pin barrel.

Sounds like a totally wrong twist for the caliber. Maybe get the barrel relined?
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
