“I don’t have any details, but they were asked to leave, and they didn’t leave I don’t have anything further,” said Captain Jamie Clark.
During the press conference, Bedford County District Attorney Lesley Childers-Potts and state police would not confirm if the residents or the activist fired first.
Officials will also not specify if both groups fired shots at one another.
One person in the activist group was injured by birdshot from a shotgun and has since been treated and released from Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, according to state troopers.
It is still unclear what caused this confrontation to escalate.
“The investigation consists of a lot of pieces of evidence that needs to be sent away and analyzed, a lot of statements from eyewitnesses and both parties," explained Lt. Officials continue to emphasize this investigation is still in the early stages and will continue to develop as they learn more.
They say no charges have been filed and no one is in custody or being held for questions at this time.
