Remember that rifle you bought at the gun store ten years ago that you SOLD, or NOT, or WHEN? So what's the point in worrying about how you buy one? It doesn't matter. People buy and SELL their rifles all the time. If you don't want to pay the 30 dollar transfer fee, have the seller take it off the price or pay half and transfer it. Not a big deal.

I believe the problem was that the seller wouldn't budge on the price and insisted the buyer pay the full transfer fee. That would bug me as well since it's not legally required and it's purely to calm the concerns of the seller. A show of good faith would be to split the costs

You are making it sound like the seller was at fault. Did an extra $25 really put it in the outrageous price category? Or were you hell bent on not having it transferred to your name?
A crusty Ak,. WASR 10 The finish was gone.
I don't mind a little project as long as I don't have more then it's worth in it. I was going to refinish it and I have a nice set of furniture anyway. I like aks and have a bunch.
    I just like to tinker.
He was asking 600. If you look around 600 is bottom end for a new one. You can find them if you look around.
I bought a new one at oaks last fall for just over 500.
Most new ones are about 700 though.

He wants 525 with the unnecessary transfer.
I said 500. That's my line in the sand. Wich I still think is a little high.

I would jump on 500 bucks, pay the transfer fee and be happy all the way to the bank with my 470 dollars... lol
It's not like it's in mint condition...

Ya, I dunno... Seems strange to me. At $500 I really do feel like that's a little to much. Especially for a common ak. Wasr's are not rare by any means. But they are good quality with hammer forged trunnions and they meet Russian spec. They're really about the cheapest you can get that meet spec really.
I would like to have it, but I'm not going to over pay unnecessarily. Just seems foolish... Just irritated

ya, I thought so, but what is right and honest is exactly that right? Anyway the # of posts shouldn't make any difference. Do you want to be known as a sleezeball or honest, that is the point.

Sleezeball? Because I'm not willing to over pay for a rifle that needs work?

I paid $399 for my WASR 10/63 in November of 2008. Within a week they were up to $499. $500 today is a good price worthy of the FFL. P.S.- I had to work on mine. It's part of the lure.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
