Great article. I work with a lot of retired or ex military and most of them have health problems. This is one thing that they should look at.

Myself I used to shoot smallbore rifle five days a week in high school. I look back now and I think some of the things we did were not all that smart. I was lead tested at the time and was OK, but I should probably have a metals test done.

I too think I should get tested... I shoot and reload, and being in an apartment, live relatively close to the space where I reload. And I spend a lot of time soldering (with leaded solder of course, since it doesn't suck).

You'd think I'd get my cholesterol level checked periodically too, but I don't.

Thank you ! I really hope the forum members here don’t just slough this off as someone else’s problem. Being vigilant and having themselves tested periodically may just save their life or keep them from worse damage if caught on time.

If you do a lot of shooting indoors and outdoors, or a firearms instructor, you should have your blood tested
ONCE a year minimum. Women should be mindful if pregnant, that they restrict their shooting activities.
Especially with their Obstetrician. Several federal LE Agencies have restrictions placed on women who are
pregnant about firearms qualification. i.e., United States Secret Service. Somewhere I have the information
from them and OSHA. I will dig it out tomorrow, will post more information.

Especially those who shoot at indoor ranges. It seems like a good idea to see where one stands as it's pretty damaging if high levels are found.
