You might consider contacting Jeff Walters at Parabellum Combat Systems. They have an excellent reputation for MP5 builds using RCS barrels.

Note to OP. If you want to buy the HK sp5sk and have intentions of installing an aftermarket paddle mag release, that may not be possible. According to a thread on the H&K forum at HKpro.com the fine folks at H&K modified the newly made ones where it's no longer possible to install the paddle magazine release kit. It's discussed here.

I would agree that the SP will hold value better, but only because it's HK and there are some HK snobs that have to have HK. I understand that to some degree. But from the factory, it looks less like an MP5, and requires much more work to look like an MP5, than any of the 'clones' or custom builds.

If you have money to burn, buy one for $2200. Then, as was already mentioned, spend $800 for a real MP5 barrel installation, $100 for a paddle mag release (if still possible), $100 for an SEF or Picto housing. You could save some money and use an RCS barrel, but then you lose some 'true HK' points and the snobs will sneer at you. Plus, if you're going to do that, you're better off buying a custom build using an HK parts kit.

If you have no interest in a 3-lug barrel, then the SP does become a little more appealing.

Regarding the trigger housing: who wants a 2 position housing? Seabee CO, I'm a little disappointed you still have it. I'd upgrade that, even with an SP.

meh...besides aesthetics what does it get me....

I went "two position" on this as well. That way no additional questions about "whatcha got there"
