The only issue I've had with the mim on the S&W revolvers is they seem prone to an aggressive red rust if not looked after.
Otherwise, I kind of like them. The fit and surfaces are spot on.

Both my 19-9 and 17-9 are full of modern MIM parts. Both are fine revolvers. Smooth tight actions. And look beautiful. Any gunsmith worth the title should be able to work on a MIM trigger group. But frankly I see no point. Both my Smiths have perfect triggers right out of the box.

Love both my modern Smiths. Especially the 19 that I can feed all the magnums I want and not worry about cracked forcing cones.

I'm not even sure $2K will get you all hand machined and fitted parts these days. From the looks of it that service starts starts at $3000.00, but I don't know every 1911 manufacturer out there.

I agree, and to think Smith & Wesson used to do it all the time and for a few hundred bucks you could own one.

Here's my 19-3 with case colored non-mim trigger and hammer plus a trigger pull that feels like butter.

Yup, the 125 grain magnums have a bad reputation with cracked Model 19 forcing cones so I stay away from them. I only use 147 and 158 grain to be safe.

This is not a problem with the new generation of K frames. The forcing cone has been re-designed.
