Re: Deer Hunting Season Changes
I have several friends who work in retail and they can never get off on Black Friday. Two of them told me they are not going up state to hunt this year since they will be missing opening day on Sat.

Positive only impact for me. Our camp crew plans will remain the same and my daughters who go away for school can now get opening day in before heading back on Sunday.
Let’s get Sunday hunting and semi autos as well!

Re: Deer Hunting Season Changes
Considering I support semi autos and Sunday hunting I’d hardly consider myself a fudd but I still think the change is bullshit. When 90+% of deer hunters are already hunting the opener on Monday or tagged a buck in archery who exactly is this change going to benefit and what about those who now can’t hunt the opener because of the change? Plus I’m still pissed they bent over for the politicians who didn’t want semi autos allowed but choose to ignore the hunters who didn’t want the Saturday opener.
My personal opinion is that this is going to royally screw up our hunting. I’ll be interested to see how this effects the number of licenses sold but since they haven’t updated the public data since 2016 I can’t track the changes.

Re: Deer Hunting Season Changes
Does anyone know what day deer season started before 1963? Could be Saturday was the original tradition. At least till a bunch of modern housewives started complaining..............

Re: Deer Hunting Season Changes
Based on what you said, I wouldn't consider you a Fudd. And there was no doubt that it would negatively impact some while positively impacting others. I was thinking it might revive some tradition for some households. The grown kids can hang around for a Saturday hunt before heading home Sunday and back to work Monday. But retail workers will likely be screwed as mentioned.
