THANK YOU, I’ve been trying to find that piece of info for YEARS. I surmised that they banned them in the 1905 to 1907 time frame but could never find any proof of it. Those years coincide with the release of the Remington model 8 in 1905 and Winchester model 1907 in 1906 on the firearms side and the banning of buckshot and doe hunting on the law side. Good to finally have some info to back up that assumption.

I’ve always thought that prior to ’63, opening day was the first Monday in December.

Used to be December 1st unless that was a Sunday at which point it would be the 2nd.
