Re: Preemption bill introduced
It's great to see a piece of legislation like that, I'll have to go give Dave Maloney an attaboy for it.

Re: Preemption bill introduced
They need to start adding in that those found guilty of violating preemption are sentenced to summary execution. Cuts through the bullshit

Re: Preemption bill introduced
Maybe we can push this bill on May 6th? Would be nice to have a positive bill to push rather than just telling them to vote against bad bills.

Re: Preemption bill introduced
While a significant improvement, there are still a lot of issues with the bill. Also, if we're actually going to *push* for a change, we should also demand that preemption include knives, so that knives can only regulated by the General Assembly, as well.

Re: Preemption bill introduced
Punitive rather than just actual damages would be a nice stick to keep municipalities in line.

Re: Preemption bill introduced
Here are both bills:
House:
https://www.legis.state.pa.us/CFDOCS...r=1066&pn=1227
Senate:
https://www.legis.state.pa.us/CFDOCS...r=0531&pn=0566
We (the Lehigh Valley Tea Part 2nd Amendment Committee) will be pushing both of these hard at 2A day and lobbying all of our 11 House Reps & 4 Senators in the Valley. Statewide, we need 25 or so dems in the house and 8 in the Senate for a veto-proof majority vote. The argument we will try is "when municipalities have their own laws, law abiding people are forced to leave their guns home or risk a summons. No is effected more by this than minorities. Women, latino, black, LGBT and the disabled are among society's most vulnerable and a mashup of local ordinances leaves them defenseless."Help us restore election integrity in PA. Re: Preemption bill introduced
Good stuff. We should be pushing this hard. It sticks in my craw that we are on the defensive fighting a dozen or more infringement bills and actual lawbreaking council members in Pittsburgh are in the process of actually violating State Firearms laws, with the Governor's full support, and the Legislature hasn't said a mumblin' word about it. Credit these Legislators for putting these back on the table. Right now, this law is largely toothless because no DA is actually going to prosecute the crime or LEO even make an arrest. Private rights of action which allow for recovery of costs are a more potent weapon.
