$15 per firearm... yet on a 4473 you can do multiple transactions... someone is lining their pockets. Thanks I'll just go to tanners sports center

Valid point. It costs $3 to do a check on a rifle, $5 for a pistol. That's per check, not per firearm. You can do multiple on one form. Is there a discount or anything for multiple firearms??

I still might go. With a copy of my C&R FFL.

Alderfer's Auction charges 23% buyers premium (Check/CC) and 20% cash. $15 PICS/4473/ROS paperwork and $5 trigger lock , then 6% PA sales tax.

And it's no wonder I haven't been to an auction for firearms in over a decade.

We actually give a free trigger lock with gun purchases to non FFL holders. It's tough to qualify our charges to folks who are not tuned into the auction industry. At first glance, it seems like the costs just seem to pile up on top of a purchase, but many of those costs are incurred in other ways at local gun shops etc. through their set pricing. Consider the fact that these guns are estate guns, not items that have been sitting on a sale rack for two years. Some of these pieces have not seen daylight since being shipped home from Europe in WW2, or put up on the attic since grandpa died. At my auction, you have a legitimate chance to own such a treasure at a fair price, with no strings attached. There are no reserve prices, no minimum bids, no internet (shill) bidding. The highest bid wins it, regardless of price. The same goes with the hundreds of lots of ammo and everything else that is in the sale. You can be sure of it, there are bargains and surprises.
We are a small, family run operation that has survived on hard work and quality service. Nobody is getting rich off a transfer fee and buyers premium after our (many) bills are paid. To be honest, the majority of the firearms we sell go to FFL holders, which should give you the idea that there is still plenty of value left in the item. As we often say, don't think of what you are spending, think of how much you are saving! Keep an eye on the photographs on the website as I will be updating them right up to auction day. Let the quality of the merchandise and the value built into the lots be your guide as to whether you would like to attend or not. We will do our very best to ensure you have a positive experience at our gallery.
