As long as all the shots are into the same medium, the comparison is valid.

for entertainment purposes or amateur testing, sure. there's a reason the fbi uses calibrated 10% ballistic gel over clear gel.

They break down 2" and 4" barrel differences.
Not wanting to start a discussion on factory vs handloads, but I choose to use handloads to duplicate the "FBI" load 38 +p.
    These are interesting results.

I wonder if the deeper penetration in shorter barrels was due to failure of the bullet to properly expand? I didn't check the information closely enough to tell.

I agree on the 38 +P. Decent response and good control.

Calibrated ballistic gel simulates muscle tissue. Gotta shoot it with a BB, which at certain velocity will penetrate a certain distance (I don't recall them off hand).

Deduct four inches of gel for penetration of skin.

I just wanted to update the thread with new info on the Remington Golden Saber bullets mentioned in this thread (no disrespect intended for the initial recommendation, it is what it is.) I haven't had any issues with the ones I've shot but this it will help those who are looking to find something better.
