    Default Online Purchase/Membership

    Quick question.

I am a member of a discount website for outdoor stuff, its been somewhat useful, but I was asked if I could use my discount towards another's purchase.

If they use their CC and then ship to their FFL, is that still rather borderline a straw purchase? I would think so cause technically the "order" would be in my name as I am the member.

There are some FFLs that will only transfer the gun to the person who is named on the order. If the gun comes to his FFL with your name on it, this could be a problem.

This sounds very similar to the cop that used his LEO discount to buy a gun in one state and transferred to his uncle via FFL in PA(I believe) and lost all the way to SCOTUS.

*EDIT: I reread and IDK with them using their CC and the transfer goes directly to them and not through you might be a different story. Is a few bucks worth the headache and worry?

Yea you guys just confirmed my initial feelings on it, thanks. Honestly only gave it a second thought cause it was my dad who asked me about it.

I will tell him to join the club or just find it cheap somewhere else.

For what it's worth if you bought it with your credit card as a gift for your dad and had it shipped to his FFL then he could legally do the transfer. It's not illegal to gift a firearm to someone else in this manner although I'm sure most wouldn't want to run the risk just because.

    * I just want to reiterate that my initial response was due to flawed comprehension on my part.

I'm not giving legal advice, but I think where "Abramski" stepped in shit was he filled out a 4473 and indicated that he was the buyer, when in actuality his uncle had either given him money upfront or reimbursed him.

    * since OP isn't paying or filling out a 4473 it never actually was in his possession and therefore he never transferred the gun. I don't see a legal issue *(AGAIN IANAL)

Whether it violates the terms of his buyer's club is another matter?

Perfectly legal, at least from the firearms aspect. You're not straw purchasing. Not even close.

My concern here is some of the responses in this thread. Basically creating new gun control out of thin air. Figured the antis did that enough for us already.
