Re: Is this the right way to use a rifle?
If I shot all my guns I'd be cleaning all the time. Pick and choose.

Re: Is this the right way to use a rifle?
Personally, I only keep those guns that I use somewhat frequently. I already got rid of stuff that I hadn't used in around five years or had nor real plan to do much with. But none of my guns are collector pieces either.

Re: Is this the right way to use a rifle?
I'm in pretty close agreement with this.
Some of my wealth (after tax dollars) is stored in rifles and pistols and shotguns, oh my.
Some is stored in ammo and reloading components.
Some in real estate and some in silver and some in rice, beans and generators.
There is value in having guns.American by BIRTH, Infidel by CHOICE

A SAKO Finnlight in 6.5x55 is a desirable rifle. Expensive too. Besides the hit in price you take when buying new......a quality firearm will not depreciate more if it is cared for. Even if it just sits in your safe.

I mean thats how my shotguns are, they come out late fall for deer and go back later winter. Never to see the light outside deer season.
I am trying to get rid of my 308 to fund another rifle.Una Salus Victis Nullam Sperare Salutem

Re: Is this the right way to use a rifle?
I find I shoot rifles in cycles. Buy a new gun it gets shot a lot. Older guns get placed in the safe and languish. Then every few years I'll pull one of those older guns out and discover why I love it all over again.
Keep the SAKO. Buy an AR when opportunity presents.

A tool is not judged by the amount you use it. You should judge a tool on its performance when you use it. The right tool makes the job so much better. Not every job needs doing every day. Tools don’t eat anything.
You use it in the fall. You could take it out and shooting it a few times a year. Maybe try out some new ammo in it but the fact is, it's paid for. It is a tool. You would be kicking yourself in the ass if you got rid of that gun.Engineers make things idiot proof! Evolution makes better idiots!
