    Question MLOK Sling Question

    Basics:
    • Last rifle I used a sling on was my issued M-16A2, which had sling loops built in, and it’s been over 15 years since then.
    • I just picked up an 18” HBAR upper in 5.56 with a long MLOK handguard. I want to put a 2-point sling on.
    • Not concerned with how the sling looks.
    • I am a cheap bast frugal guy, so I’m not looking to spend any more than I need to at this point.
    • I know there’s a lot of QD and other sling mounts out there for MLOK.

    Questions:
    • Has anyone just run their sling thru the MLOK slots and just called it a day?
    • If so, are there any heat considerations? I can easily stay away from the gas block, there’s lots of space towards the muzzle.

Lots of "frugal" options out there. Quick search gave me this:

    Under $14, that's almost cheap.

Does look like quite a deal, but I was more asking about mounting that the sling itself. Of course, this covers both...

The OP's question was related to any known problems feeding a strap through the M-lok channels.
I am curious about this myself.
People have been wrapping their suppressors with nylon and even their barrels sometimes (for some reason).
If the nylon doesn't burn away on the suppressor, will it hold with prolonged contact on a hot barrel?

Most MLOK handguards nowadays have a built in quick detach receptacle just past the upper on both sides. Right about where the D ring on a standard AR handguard. You'd just need to thread a quick detach coupler onto your sling.

If yours doesn't have that built in, you could pick up this guy and mount it wherever on the handguard.

Here's what I did with Paracord. It may not work for other applications - depends on the shape of the slots, and how you want/need your sling to attach.
I played around until I figured out a way to feed it around so it stays at an angle the way it will be pulled when in use. I snugged it up tight and in the end, it works well for me. Going to do this with another rifle too.

I had purchased an HK hook end for this sling, but didn't like the way it hooked into the holes on the rail, and it made metal on metal noise - Paracord is silent.

If your going to do it without a QD mount then do it EM's way. Your sling will be allowed to freely move and not bind and if you get a budget sling you wont run the risk of melting it when the barrel heats up.

If you plan on actually using the rifle and sling and buy a QD mount then DO NOT buy a cheap no name one because it will break.

If you haven't found a sling yet and are looking for a quick adjustable one like most use on AR style rifles then these are excellent very affordable USA made options with free shipping.

I have two of the standard and am pretty happy with them.
