Default School board learns a 20-year active shooter lesson??

In today's paper...a school board in one of the lower Bucks communities is changing its instructions on what to do if an active shooter presents.

Instead of lockdown and hiding in place, experts advocate yelling, running around, and throwing things at the shooter.

A spokesperson explained that after 10 to 20 years of school shooting incidents, it is apparent that hiding under a desk is not a good response.

One of the experts, addressing the parents, explained that on average it takes police seven minutes to arrive and engage, giving the shooter time to find targets.

So, the answer, after 10-20 years of experiences, is to provide the shooter with the added attraction of moving targets for which he need not search.

Not a mention of considering having any ability to shoot the shooter during the seven minute wait for police intervention.

Education is a wonderful thing. Especially when imparted by experts.

We know most school districts are not going to be in favor of arming teachers and engaging the threat.

So what are the second best techniques to engage an active shooter while unarmed ?

I am being serious. We know it takes the cops at the very best 5-10 minutes to show up. And then there is the Parkland fiasco. So instead of hiding under desks and waiting to be shot, is there anything that could increase the chance of the students and staffs survival in lieu of armed folks already on location ?

I believe that active shooters would not engage a school where the teachers are armed and that the teachers would probably never need to pull their guns.

Seriously... I told my kids (youngest graduated a couple years ago) that whenever they thought something like that was going down.. was to get out. I let them know they wouldn't get in trouble with me but do whatever they had to do to get out of that building, find someplace safe to hide and call me. The point being don't be a sitting duck, head towards the opposite direction of the shooter.

I think actively engaging the shooter by 'yelling, running around, and throwing things at the shooter' is ridiculous

Our society protects our money with guns, our politicians with guns, our celebrities with guns, but somehow its bad to protect our children with guns.
    It's insanity.

If you don't want to arm the teachers.
Then select 2 or 3 staff members from every school, like the principle, vice principle, and maintenance supervisor, and give them professional firearm training.
Background check, license, training, certification, and arm them.
Just like a HR218 LEOSA program.

    That's how Israel does it.
They got tired of Islamists executing their children in their schools.
They passed a law that every school MUST have designated, trained and armed staff on site at all times.
Schools are not allowed to operate without a designated armed staff member present.
Guess what, their Islamist school attacks dropped to zero.

It is disgusting in the extreme that the Liberal Democrat Party is willing to allow our children to be slaughtered for political gain.
Our rank and file police need to stand up and demand that our schools be properly protected by designated, trained and armed staff members.
It's time to stop the insanity and protect our children.

I love when they say "I don't want people with guns around my kids.."
If I were in a group discussion and someone said that, I would loudly reply, "Then don't call the police when a shooting is going on. The police are going to bring guns!" "And, as an added bonus, the police will be bringing their guns too late!"
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
