    From my experience

Got a DUI in 2009. Completed ARD.

Bought my first firearm in 2012 with no issues. Bought several more after that with no issues.

I can't see how he could be a prohibited person if this was his first and only DUI offense in PA. Even if he was at Tier 3 the maximum sentence is 6 months.

I don't know about gun ownership but DUI's are disqualifying for LTCF for a period of time and something makes me think it's 3 or 5 years. I have a friend who knows for certain.

Trying to buy a gun means that you risk placing a false answer on a Federal form which you hand to an FFL for the purpose of buying a gun, which can be prosecuted by the Feds and by the Commonwealth. Usually, just the Commonwealth prosecutes. Defending yourself from such a prosecution means that you risk a conviction which bars you from gun ownership for life, makes you pay fines, possibly serve prison time, and incur $5K to $20K in basic legal fees.

There are many more prohibitors than just criminal convictions, and people are often wrong about "what happened in court". ARD looks a whole lot like probation, with fines paid and community service done and reporting to the Probation/Parole folks.

To paraphrase the movie "Ronin", if there's any doubt, there is no doubt.
Wow, if there are ANY concerns at all that there could be a problem, then this due diligence check is an incredible bargain. I feel like I should send Phil $200 just for all the free and excellent advice he has given in this forum over the years!

I believe he will also accept first born children or a box of doughnuts.
    Whichever is easier.

Hey Phil is a lawyer not a cop> Cops eat donuts, but I'm pretty sure lawyers eat first born children

Could you give any more details about your situation without giving too much away?
I am debating using GL’s services vs going it alone with my knowledge of the applicable statutes.
