Re: Revolver cylinder walls are scored/corroded
CDI is me- head cook and bottle washer at C.D.I. Custom Knife and Gun in beautiful, bucolic Chalfont Pa.
I've been turning wrences on firearms for about 40 years, so I guess I'm steeped in the black arts....
PAFOA has been very good to me. Every once in a while someone comes along with a firearm issue where I might be able to help with a certain tool, experience or solution.
In the interest of paying it forward, I have a borescope that can see directly down onto the surface of your charge holes at considerable magnification.
You already recieved some good advice. My thought is it's a good thing to look at the damage and determine exactly what it is. Flex hones are good tools but they enlarge the entire charge hole.
You might not need that. I have had good success in the past using a finish reamer to precisly excise the burr or issue without changing the overall dimension of the bore in question.
If you are interested, I'll set up the scope and you can have a look to determine exactly what the issue is. It may be something correctible on the spot.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Re: Revolver cylinder walls are scored/corroded
I'm in a discreet location- behind my residence on Upper Stump Rd.
You were only a few minutes away when you headed to Target world.
All stop-ins or consultations are by appointment only. Give a call before you're in the area to make sure I'm here and stop in to shoot the breeze.

There's not a lot to see here- it's a small machine shop with lots of cracked, busted and disgusted guns waiting to be mended.
I try to keep it cleaned up but it's generally dirty, the air smells of cutting oil and cigarette smoke and I have been known to use profanity....Last edited by cdi; March 18th, 2019 at 02:55 PM.

Re: Revolver cylinder walls are scored/corroded
I’ll vouch for cdi. He helped me out and inspected my rifle after I made a boo boo (Ok, seriously fucked up). He is a good guy with a sharp eye and knowledge to back it up. Gave me peace of mind when I left.

Re: Revolver cylinder walls are scored/corroded
CDI, I have a bolt action rifle that has a loose rear sight. Would you have the ability align it properly and weld it (or whatever you do to attach those things)? If so, it will be worth the drive down your way. It may be several weeks until I have enough free time to make it down that way. Would you also be available on a Saturday?
