Revolver cylinder walls are scored/corroded
OK, so I bought a used S&W Model 64 a few weeks ago. I cleaned it right away and didn't notice anything glaringly wrong with it, that is, until I tried loading it this weekend.
One of the cylinders wouldn't load a round. The cartridge sticks out about 1/4" and won't go any further without being forced. I thought maybe there was carbon or lead buildup inside the cylinder, so I kept rags soaked in Balistol in each chamber for several hours and scrubbed the hell out of it. No change. So I looked really closely at the round that I extracted and it had scratches on the brass. Closer inspection of the inside walls of the cylinder shows that there is some pitting that must have raised a bur.
How would I correct this? Hit the inside surfaces with some superfine sandpaper on a dowel rod?Sed ego sum homo indomitus

Take a empty case and drill out the primer, Get a thin bolt w/nut thru it like a handle. Coat with polishing compound and run it in and out and rotate. Use it like a hone, it is the right size already. Don't put in a dremel and spin the shit out of it. Go slow and check often.

Before you do anything, find someone with a borescope and examine the area carefully.
It's easy to misdiagnose a bore or charge hole without a borescope.
I have one, but I think you are too far for the drive- if not bring it over.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

Take it to CDI, have a professional examine it and repair it if necessary.
