It appears they are trying to sue for the way Remington advertised this rifle to minors as a Sporting rifle vs a military rifle made for killing humans.

So we are going to try and change the definition of firearms with this lawsuit. It’s not about money it has huge implications for the entire industry and the 2A.

The thing is the kid was a legal adult, where did Remington advertise their rifle to him? He murdered and stole it. He was more influenced by violent video games and movies then he was by Remington or Bush Master.

    They're pursuing this because...

"In 2002, Bushmaster and a Bushmaster dealer were targets of a civil lawsuit brought by two survivors and six families of victims of the October 2002 D.C. sniper attacks which resulted in the deaths of ten and injures to three people. On September 8, 2004 Bushmaster agreed to pay $550,000 of a $2.5 million settlement in the lawsuit and Bull's Eye Shooter Supply of Tacoma, Washington, the Bushmaster dealer from whom one of the perpetrators said he had shoplifted the rifle, paid $2 million. [5][6] The company cited mounting legal fees and compassion for the victims and their families as the reason for settling"

I was under the same impression too. Apparently it was under the Freedom Group since 2010.

^^^^^This is spot on. This is a very dangerous ruling and we better hope it gets overturned.

The Left has abused our court system for generations, using political hack judges to get what they couldn't achieve in the legislature.

Nobody ever marketed this gun with pictures of gleeful loonies shooting up schools or firing down into crowds, and the fact is that the Sandy Hook shooter never bought the gun at all, he stole it.

The basis of their lawsuit is that the "marketing" was "selling it to anyone other than cops or the Pentagon", the old cult view that "nobody needs guns except the govt", a view that Holocaust survivors would strongly dispute, even if their relatives in NYC never quite grasped that lesson.

That's exactly the kind of nonsense that the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Firearms Act was designed to stop, but a few judges in NY and New England have decided that their role is not to apply statutes and the Constitution, but instead to be wise, Solomon-like rulers who re-shape our society based on their received wisdom.

The same political cult that keeps attacking Trump for "harming our democracy" has consistently relied on using judges (or Super Delegates) to thwart the will of the majority.

The simple fact is that every year, more people use guns to stop criminal attacks than are killed wrongfully with guns, so taking guns away would result in a net INCREASE in the deaths of the innocent.

No company ever marketed a rifle as being safe.

Bring in a military ordnance officer-experts from all branches to testify that the military does not use any rifles of Bushmaster or AR-15 design.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
