Gun registration
I recently purchased a handgun from my son in law, what’s the process of getting it registered?

Is he still married to your daughter? Not being a wise guy, it might change the answer. One who knows for sure will be along soon enough.

Re: Gun registration
Did your daughter sell you the gun or her husband?
There isn't a gun "registration" in PA. So they say....,

So...daughter and son-in-law do not constitute the same entity for this purpose, eh.

Re: Gun registration
For a handgun you need to head to the nearest FFL that will do a transfer.. take firearm with you and both need a current PA ID (driver's license)
In-law may legally GIVE it to your spouse with no paperwork.. ie Parent to child or child to parent and also Spouse to Spouse all legal with no paperwork
There is NO registration in PA.. there is a record of sale that is "supposed to" be deleted after a period of time.. but NO REGISTRATION
I regularly buy or get handguns and long guns from my father in-law..
handguns we go to the FFL for a legal transfer..
long guns we just do a written BOS so nobody can say (which has happened and the reason I now require a BOS) "he promised that to me!"
now I just tell the others "Tuff shit!, until the BOS it was his to do with what he wished, now it is mine ! go pound sand!"Last edited by Parrisk; March 14th, 2019 at 10:06 AM.

Re: Gun registration
There is no technically. He has to go through an FFL if he's buying a handgun directly from his son-in-law. If his son-in-law gave it to his wife (OP's daughter), that's a lawful transfer in PA. She could then sell the gun to her father without an FFL transfer. It's convoluted, but it's legal.
