Welcome new guy. I'm too far away to help ya. Former Navy here.

    Welcome to the forum.

My snippet of advice on top of the excellent stuff already posted is that small gun shops almost always beat the heck out of big box sporting goods stores on price so when you're ready to buy check around your area for them.

I have been looking at "The Hunters Den." I have been in and talked to them on several occasions. They seem knowledgeable, but when you are a noob to guns everything sounds knowledgeable.

    Tip for the new swabbie:

Unlike some forums, this one does not automatically link your reply to the post you are replying to. If you want to make it clear what post you are replying to, it helps to "Reply With Quote". If you are quoting a large post but only replying to a small piece, you can trim out the excess before posting.

When very active threads get going there can be hundreds of posts from dozens of members in very short order. so your "I agree" to something you just read that's 40 minutes old means your reply is nowhere near what you're agreeing to, and could possibly post right after something you vehemently DISagree with.

    My 2¢
    YMMV
    etc...

    P.S. - Welcome
