The main purpose of a sling is to free your hands to climb or drag a deer. I would look for something comfortable that works and not worry about looks.

    LOL

Thanks everyone for the advice. I wanted a sling with some age, to match the gun, so I found this on eBay.

That is what has been on (my Dad's) 1950 vintage Marlin 336SC since the 50s.

    Kinda Necro... oh, well...
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

That looks like the type of sling that was on my grandfathers 94 when I inherited it. However the sling was in such bad condition I felt it would break the first time I tried to shoulder the rifle. I still haven't gotten a replacement.

Is this a specific model you found on ebay?

I go to a lot of auctions where I see multiple slings sold as box lots. Often times they are old and well worn. It's not uncommon to see a mixed box of 6+/- leather slings go for $10.

Another option is the clearance bins at your local gun store. Every store I frequent has a box or a bin somewhere in a corner. This is there the shop employees toss all the add-on items that come with used guns they purchase or take in trade. These boxes are full of holsters, odd pistol mags, scope rings... and slings. Some of my best LGS finds come out of these boxes.

Looks like a WW1-WW2 pattern M1907 sling to me.
