This is a terrible idea. How are they claiming this isn't a registry? There would be an indelible* link between every firearm purchase you've ever made and your ID. That's the whole point! The government would still know who is linked to what ID, and thus to all of your guns. There is no anonymity where it counts.

Throwing around technology buzzwords that most people don't understand is a great way to make terrible f!@king decisions.
