Re: OC gets gun taken working on car.
I'm lazy as hell. So damned lazy, I find maintaining situational awareness rather taxing. So, lazy me, I keep the gun hidden. Try it!
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: OC gets gun taken working on car.
Man, I need a gun. Do ya know of any?
Yeah! I do! There's dude over on Brighton Lane who always has a gun on him. All ya gotta do is catch him off guard, smack 'em good and it's yours.
Nah. That won't work. I know it won't work, cause I saw in a gun website that it can't be done.
Oh. OK. Well, maybe follow a car that has an NRA sticker home, and hit the house?
Yeah. That sounds better. Just make sure they ain't home. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Re: OC gets gun taken working on car.
It's kind of like walking around with 5 $100 bills hanging out of your back pocket and wondering why you got mugged. A black market pistol is worth more than that.
Any vote for a third party is a vote for a Democrat. You are the enemy.

Re: OC gets gun taken working on car.
The thief sneaked up behind the victim, talk all you guys want to about "situational awareness" but this was not a lapse of awareness, this was a simple case of someone sneaking up behind someone else. None of us have eyes in the back of our head, if you are looking at something in front of you, and concentrating on something in front of you, none of you are likely to notice someone sneaking up directly behind us. This could've happened to an OCer, a CCer or a LEO.
I don't generally OC and I'm not really a fan of OC but at times when I'm CCing I know my shirt rides up, such as if I were bent over working on my car. All of my belt holsters have mechanical retention for this very reason.
The other day I was standing in line at Sheetz behind a gentleman who was right behind a police officer. The gentlemen was looking at the officers gun while the officer was busy talking with the cashier and trying to figure out why his credit card wouldn't work. I remember thinking "if that guy wanted to he could have the officers gun in a fraction of a second". Now I wasn't going to let that happen but if it did I couldn't blame the officer, he was just standing in line going about his business.
Situational awareness means recognizing a possible threat, but when that threat sneaks up on you from behind, that just means you were looking the wrong way.
In todays world there are so many people around that there's always someone behind you.Last edited by ray h; March 25th, 2019 at 03:05 PM.

Re: OC gets gun taken working on car.
I'm guessing you meant short shirt.
Does situational awareness include conscious of a shirt having ridden up? Could be. Retention holsters are great for foiling snatching.
But not great for getting stunned by sucker-punch or sneak-up pipe on the head.
Glad no injury occurred. There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.
