Re: Ruger LCP 10th anniversary issue
P3AT is hammer-fired. I believe the LCP is striker-fired? No manual safety on the P3AT...it's hammer is poised at half-way, pressing the trigger brings it back the rest of the way and then releases it, thus no safety needed. Read the LCP copied the P3AT, but there is really quite a difference. I have carried mine for quite a few years now, in a deSantis pocket holster. Delint it approximately weekly.
It was not reliable when first purchased. Joined KTOG and followed their fluff and buff cure. It works well. Sounds like the LCP could use some.Last edited by Bang; March 3rd, 2019 at 05:07 PM.
There are two kinds of guns. Those I have acquired, and those I hope to.

Not sure about the 2nd gen, but the 1st gen LCP is indeed hammer fired, double action only, no safety of any kind.

Re: Ruger LCP 10th anniversary issue
Just looked it up. It is still hammer-fired, but single-action instead of DAO. It's safety is a notch similar to a half-cock. The full cock notch engagement is so strong, Ruger had to machine the full notch down in order to get it to drop into the half-notch in drop tests. So, the 2nd gen LCP firing mechanism is different from the Kel Tec P3AT.

Update: sent the gun to ruger and they said they replaced the slide assembly and barrel. Got it back from them yesterday and took it to the range, 100 rounds through it with no failures. Wonder what was wrong with the original barrel and slide assembly that was causing all those extraction issues.
