Got a couple 200rd cans of linked 7.62 British surplus Radway Green I'd sell ya cheaper than that.
But YOU have to de-link it!I don't speak English , I talk American!

Re: Ammo pricing bottom??
308/7.62 NATO, all depends what bullet you want.
If you just want plinking ammo, there is good surplus available right now for 40-50 cents a round.
If you want a hunting or long range type bullet the cost goes up.
308/7.62 is one of those things where you save money reloading, even now.

Re: Ammo pricing bottom??
I never dug into it but I had a guy tell me that .308 was on the H&K's because they couldn't export the evil 7.62. I was also told that 5.56 was hotter than .223 but I never looked into that either. Supposedly the H&K 93 is stamped .223 for the same reason as the .308. I find 7.62 at around $.50/round without too much trouble, sometimes a little less. If it's more I don't buy it. I don't know if I have any left but I had some Hanson that was marked .308 on the box.

5.56 vs .223 is different too , but for different reasons.

Some info sez to never use 5.56 NATO ammo in guns chambered for .223 , but The Ruger Mini-14 says .223 REM on the chamber , but the manual sez to use any .223 Rem commercial or 5.56 NATO military ammo.Last edited by abner13; March 3rd, 2019 at 01:24 PM.

Re: Ammo pricing bottom??
There is a tiny dimension difference between 308 and 7.62 NATO. 7.62 has slightly thicker brass and a lower case capacity for powder. Any gun that will shoot 308 will shoot 7.62 just fine. 7.62 has lower pressures as well.
The only safety problem I can think of it is rifles like the 1916 Spanish Mausers converted in the 1960s to 7.62 NATO. Those rifles can handle 7.62 but not the higher pressure 308.
