    https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs...y=S&sort=alpha

    Support for Senate Bill #147

    Phone Call Transcript:

Call As MANY Senator Offices as you have time for during Normal Business hours to get a Real Human on the Line.

If you leave a message on a voicemail simply leave your name and a phone number and explain that you Support Senate Bill #147 which will END the prohibition on Sunday Hunting and Strengthen Trespassing Laws and you support Sunday Hunting for…”whatever your reasons are”. Such as Increased funding for conservation, increased youth recruitment for hunting, increased economic stimulus from hunting tourism, desire to hunt your own private land on Sunday, etc.

FOR A PHONE CALL THAT IS ANSWERED---possible conversation and talking points.

OFFICE: “Hello Senator ???’s office this is Christina speaking how may I help you?”

YOU: “Hello Christina this is Tom how are you doing today?” --Wait for their response

OFFICE: (Somewhat surprised at the pleasant tone of your voice and genuine question of interest---you can almost hear the smile of the receptionist and an increased willingness to help you.) “I’m doing fine how may I help you??”

YOU: The reason I am calling today is I am a MEMBER of HUSH, NRA, United Bowhunters of PA, Member of QDMA, MEMBER OF ????? or simply a Proud PA Hunter. I am calling in Regards to Senate Bill #147, and am wondering if SENATOR ????? has had time to gather information on this Senate Bill #147 and formulate a position on this Bill? Either FOR, AGAINST or UNDECIDED???

OFFICE: Receptionist could say “Senator is FOR or AGAINST” but also will likely say they are not certain and would be happy to pass on your views to the Senator.

    THIS IS IMPORTANT!!!

YOU: Thank the receptionist for this information and then ASK...Does the Senator have a ###Legislative Advisor or Legislative Councilor### who YOU can speak with or send information to???---This is the person you want to have the conversation with.

OFFICE: The receptionist will likely say YES and connect you OR They are out of the Office or they can give you their direct email or Office Phone Voice Mail or take your contact info. In addition to being super nice to the receptionist, YOU WANT TO TALK TO THE LEGISLATIVE ADVISOR for the Senator.

YOU: When you get the Legislative Advisor…. Explain ALL your reasons to Support Bill #147. Stay Positive stay focused and use logic and issues that are important to the Senator of that particular district. IF AND ONLY IF the Legislative Advisor brings up concerns about the PA Farm Bureau or Safety Issues or Sunday for Hikers...should you bring up counter points to those arguments. STAY focused on why Senate Bill #147 is a GOOD Bill and should pass.

*HUnters are Conservationists and provide funding for 1.5 Million Acres of State Game Land and over 5 Million Acres of Total Public Land in PA.
*Hunting license sales are dwindling and Sunday Hunting could help reverse that trend
    * 47 of 50 US States allow Sunday Hunting PA is one of only 3 remaining states to prohibit Sunday Hunting.
*Hunting is a SAFE Wholesome, Family Oriented activity that is being wrongly prohibited by Government Regulation. Sunday Hunting should be an individual choice.
    ETC.ECT. ECT.

Then provide your contact information and ask for their direct phone number and email address so that you can contact them in the future with additional information.

GOOD LUCK and GET ON THOSE PHONES!!!

The VERY STRONG opposition to Sunday Hunting by the Pa Farm Bureau is urging its members to contact the senators, don't you think you should be doing your part as well

    Dear Valued Member,

    IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED
Please urge your State Senator to oppose Senate Bill 147, which would allow for Sunday hunting. The bill would give the Pennsylvania Game Commission full authority to establish Sunday hunting when determining seasons and bag limits. The bill would strengthen hunting related trespassing violations, but does not fulfill all of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s policy objectives related to Sunday hunting.

Along with contacting your lawmaker using the link below, we are asking members to CALL their Senator directly and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 147.

    https://www.pfb.com/policy-pfb/take-...3686%2fRespond

    BACKGROUND
Earlier this year the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee passed, on an 8-3 vote, Senate Bill 147. That gives the bill the potential to be voted on by the full Senate.

If we want to stop Sunday hunting efforts from gaining traction, we will need a robust response from our members voicing strong opposition to Sunday hunting. Pro-Sunday hunting groups are also contacting their Senators on this issue. Many Senators are waiting to hear feedback from their district before making up their mind on Sunday hunting. We need to show those lawmakers that their district OPPOSES Sunday hunting.

Farmers have numerous concerns over Sunday hunting, and they will not be solved with stronger trespassing penalties alone. Pennsylvania has the second highest number of hunters in the country, second to only Texas. We also have the highest hunter density numbers in the country. Most hunting in Pennsylvania happens on private property. Those two factors increase the chance that trespassing—be it accidental or otherwise--could occur while hunting. Making hunting related trespassing a primary offense is not enough of a deterrent by itself.

Game Commission officers are already spread thin. Will those men and women be available to quickly respond to trespassing complaints? Simply posting land will not keep people off private property.

Farmers want to work with hunters. There’s been a good relationship established between hunters and landowners. Still landowners would like that one day a week where they can enjoy their land without having to worry about interfering with hunters.

Lastly, we have no way of knowing how many Sundays the Game Commission may allocate for hunting in establishing its seasons and bag limits. The state’s hunting calendar runs from September to May. That opens a tremendous number of Sundays for hunting.

We need lawmakers to hear your OPPOSITION to Sunday hunting. Along with contacting your lawmaker using the link below, we are asking members to CALL their Senator directly and ask them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 147. Phone messages are very effective in helping to sway opinion. Please report the results of your phone call to Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s office at 717-761-2740 or govcom@pfb.com. In addition, please consider personalizing the letter at the link below to further emphasize your thoughts and concerns on the issue.

Outdoors: Sunday hunting would expand opportunities for the state's working sportsmen
A Penn State study released in early 2004, however, suggests that only a fraction of the state's private land
base would be at risk to posting if Sunday hunting laws were relaxed.
    • In a survey of landowners in Greene, Pike and York counties, Penn State found that 69 percent of landowners post their property against hunting. Among the remaining 31 percent who had not yet posted, 58 percent said Sunday hunting would motivate them to close their land to hunters.
Doing the math associated with land area and ownership in the state indicates that Sunday hunting might jeopardize access to about 13 percent of Pennsylvania's land area.

Reading this the max we may lose is 13% and that is IF the land owners follow through with their threat. In Ohio most didn't.

So the threat to post property IF Sunday hunting really is a non issue as large parts of PA are already posted against hunting 7 days a week now.

Right now 100% of the ALL the public property and game lands are closed to Sunday hunting for most species including your own property IF you want to hunt on Sunday.

Most people have no problem with private landowners telling guest (you) what they can species they can hunt and when they can come on their land or never come on their private property, 24/7 IF they wish as they paid for that right.

However when the Pa Farm Bureau says no one in PA should be allowed on Sundays, even going so far as to not even allow hunting on public land such SGL which were paid with license fees by hunters, They stand against Freedom!
