You should think about getting a low profile scope mount. Assuming the scope is OK.

This; once it was rechambered it lost whatever value it might have had as a collector and is now strictly a shooter.

Plus being a Sears you don't have the allure that a Winchester stamped rifle would, and the Winchester wouldn't really lose any value from the era-rechamber so long as it was still in good cosmetic condition.

i just happened to have a Model 70 in .308 out as well. The model 53 is just as strong as a model 70, basically identical except for some cosmetic differences. The Winchester is beautiful!

It'll never be a collectors item , but a darn good solid rifle nonetheless. Not worth much monetarily. But would cost more to replace then you could get for it.
