Yeah, don't wait until you get to security to clear your gun. It'll be busy and I doubt you could do it safely there unless they had a clearing barrel or something. I always just clear my carry at the car before I walk in if I'm checking it. I won't say how long it stays that way, but you can generally tell by the amount of zip ties in the bathroom garbage cans that most people don't walk out to the car that way.

In the past there has been a pistol clear device on the table. I have watched the PSP do the clearing, if familiar with the gun. If not, they allowed you in the past to do the clearing yourself. Not sure if this is still the MO since that last discharge in the hall.

Bloomsburg had something similar before. I didn't see it at the last one I was at there, so I don't know if it's a thing anywhere else. I've never seen one at Harrisburg though.

I still clear at my car if I'm checking something. I don't like screwing around with a loaded unholstered gun in an area with people walking around me.

I can't say I don't blame you for wanting to unload your gun in a controlled environment, without having to deal with people possibly bumping you in the process. I go in hot...have for the last few times. Out of sight, out of mind...

I can't blame you for that either. I was either OC or holster shopping the last few shows I was to, so I checked a gun in. Now weather or not I told them about the bug in my left pocket is a different storie. As is weather I exited the building with the zip tie still on my primary.

Friday afternoon is a great time to go. Very easy to walk, browse, buy, stop and talk without the massive crowd.

Went right after work , got there around 4pm. Parked right out front of Hall A entrance. Met up with Walleye and got my hat , walked thru the show , got 3 like new CZ-82 mags for $10ea , bunch of meat at Holsingers , a few other things and a sore hip. Got thru fairly quick as the place was practically empty. Met one of ours and Philly's finest , Off. Carson on the way out.

Might head back Sat or Sun.
