They were probably afraid that the Police would have to arrest them once they were "caught".

Bet that there will be a "ghost" gun provision in the final bill. To "prevent evasion of background checks".

The background check itself will be a nuisance. Police will bust people in "stings".

When the background check fails to work it will be "strengthened" by tracking gun purchases in a database. I believe that the first slice of the banana will just be a simple Brady Check.

When the Brady Checks don't work, and they won't work, the law will be "enhanced". The Holy Grail of gun control - a gun registry - will be added to the law.

Once this is done gradual punishments to "gun owners" will be added. A sin tax per firearm owned. Mandatory gun insurance. Red Flag raids.

    Gotcha, my bad.

Actually, I believe the UBC intent goes far beyond gun shows. They claim “the gun show loophole” as a way to hide the true intent. It’s a huge step towards 100% registration via national data base. It’s goal is to get every gun and every gun owner “in the system” by criminalizing private sales, forcing FFL entering serial numbers and names into the “non-existent” database
