Thankfully it seems like parents having their child committed for basically nothing (and having the 302 follow them around forever) is much less common than it used to be.
Too many lives have been impacted negatively over feels and pride.
I think if a parent has a minor committed and it turns out to be nothing then the parents need to have the man involved in their life to figure out what's going on, but that would open a Pandora's Box no one wants to deal with.
