    Default Ruger mini 14

I have a chance to pick up a used police issue mini 14 in s/s with the composite (rubber) stock for 500 out the door. Good buy or no? The rifle is in decent shape, just needs a little TLC.
Thanks, online prices are all over the place.

Sounds like a deal to me if it's not shot out, just my opinion.

yeah, if its functional that is a great deal, especially if it has the flash hider/bayo lug. And if not get yourself a folding stock and have an A-team rifle.

5 bills, Sure, I picked up a police trade in GB-20 with factory flash hider and bayonet lug in stainless for $400 many years ago. Love it shoots great without a hiccup and between AR and AK accurate, put a Butler Creek folder on it and makes a great handy package

And another plus, with the non folder stock its often gets omitted in the language of many lib gun ban lists. just make sure you buy quality mags (stay away from anything triple K or non branded) and you will be happy

If it's a later one with the serial number starting with 58.-..... it should have a few refinements that make it a bit more accurate out of the box than earlier models with serial numbers 18.- to 19,-,,,,. Most obvious is a heavier barrel.
I have an older one that shoots good but took some work to get there.
If in half decent shape it sounds like something you could easily get your money back on if desired.

Edit: Just gotta say there are some choices in AR's for $500 today.

Not a bad price, especially if its the more current 580 series.
